Well, hi there. This got oogey, I went on my honeymoon, haven’t been back since I returned a few days ago. Thanks to those who sent me PM’s asking me to come back and clarify. Glad to.
Turns out that employee dude did indeed find out from the owner that the surveillance camera hard drive recorder was NOT on. However, and this is key, he didn’t find that out until after I had confronted the group. He- and I- truly believed that if need be, we’d run the “tapes” ( how quaint, how very 80’s… ) in front of the group. We did not want to do that. We wanted the item to be “found”.
Once employee dude told me that there were NO recordings, I told him we should be smart little psychologists- and not reveal this. The guilty party believed they’d been caught already. Let them keep believing this.

The hijack was mostly not worth my posting into, but I’ll say this. I mixed up my INTENSE distaste for dealing with people drunk/stoned when I am teaching them with the OP main issue. That was a mistake. The theft occurred. The stoner aspect was to a degree tangential though I’ll never know if he was stealing to support his pot habit.
Hope this cleared things up. Hope I don’t have to deal with a theft again. Look, I’m not Jimminy Cricket here, I know people suck and they steal. But it seemed in remarkably poor taste to steal in that environment.
Oh, come on. First someone suggests that you may have been offline because of work, which is bad enough. But now you come back to tell us that you were off celebrating your marriage? What kind of person has that kind of priorities in their life?! Honestly, it’s like you don’t even *care *about us. QQ, etc.
So basically, you don’t have a shred of evidence that the guy took the camera, and you were profiling because you think he might smoke weed (and you didn’t even actually SEE him smoke weed, you just assumed it…not that it would have been any of your business if he did. You weren’t paying him, he was paying you). You also knew when you posted the OP that you had nothing on camera, yet you tried to imply that you did. “Cameras don’t lie,” you said. Why did you say that if you knew there was nothing on the camera?
And “stealing to support his pot habit?” What are you, Joe Friday?
