I’m awful sorry for your loss. Do your Cash a favor and bring him around some other dogs if you can - nothing can console like another member of your own species. You’re a good man and you did right by your dog. ---

What a heartbreaking story. What a sweet sweet girl she was. I took some comfort in TrueCelt’s explanation that it was most likely quick and painless. She sounds like a fantastic dog, and yours sounds like a loving home. You were both lucky to find each other. RIP Baby. ---

So sorry. We had a black lab who died much the same way - bleeding profusely from, um, well, the other end. Vet thought it was either a black widow bite (he was stoopid about poking his head in places and had been bitten before, just not at 14) or bowel cancer/rupture. And I later had a spouse with a lovely cockapoo named Baby. Sweet dog… had to bury her, too. My Danes are in my lap right now because we’ve got New England summer thunder, and I don’t want to think about how few years I have left with them. Not right now. ---
