# You will no longer be able to trust your car to the man who wears a star

One more bit of Americana is gone. All Texaco gas stations are being rebranded to the parent company Shell. Granted Shell had some pretty cool if dubious commercials in the '60s with the Shell fueled car going farther than the brand-X car but my Texaco fireman’s helmet I had as a kit was cooler. It’s been years since you could fill your car with Fire Cheif but I’ll miss it nonetheless.

Ah, that explains it. A few months ago, just about every Texaco here in town disappeared, sold out to Diamond Shamrock. I know of only one actual Texaco station left.
