Lots of them don’t say “pickles”; they say something like
or
(And yes, I notice that the first picture has “pickles” in small print.)
Right, they don’t make it easy for someone sent to the store to pick up some pickles. What the heck are “Hamburger Dill Chips” or “Kosher Dill Spears”?
Nobody should ever be sent to the store to pick up “pickles” not unless there’s a pre-existing understanding about the type. Do you want sweet, dill, bread and butter, half-sour? Chips, spears, whole, slices?
Yep. You might get Giardineira.
(Always makes me think of a disease, )
Me too. It’s yummy stuff with an unfortunate name.
That’s “…a peck of pickled peppers.”
/ocd
My brain knew that. It even wondered how many pickles in a peck.
But just try talking to my fingers…
As everyone knows, a peck is 1/4 of a bushel. You can do the math.
I shoulda known that.
I been in a peck of trouble. How much is that?
A barrel and a heap?
[Bolding mine]
(The holiday, not the movie)
Don’t know but I’ll peck away at the problem for a while.
Huntin’ and peckin’ is tedious work
Why do I think this will get naughty, soon?
Try them on dilly beans.
(Now I want some dilly beans.)
I’ve found if you don’t like a certain food, you’re likely not to like the pickled version.
I’m not real fond of okra, prepared carefully I’ll do it. Pickled Okra is all kinda bad.
Nah. Regular okra is just ok, but pickled okra is delicious.
Yep. See we all like different things.
Ain’t that just an epiphany?
I don’t like turnips, but the pink pickled turnip spears that come with my Lebanese shwarma are yummy. Detest cauliflower and not a fan of raw onion, but love them pickled.

I couldn’t have, but after reading this thread I’ll say it’s about a family of Okies named Joad who move to California.
The only reason I know about it is because I saw the movie one night on late night tv. I saw thst Henry Fonda was in it and watched it because I like Fonda.
No idea who Spaulding Grey was.
I know Paul McCartney. I’ve heard of the Grateful Dead, but no idea what songs they play. Rest of the music people are mentioning, I don’t know.
I’ve been carrying a pocket knife since I was ~10yo. Not a day goes by that I don’t use it. I discovered that my nephew/friend did not have one so I bought him one.
My wife does not carry one, but she is not handy with tools, and I’m there so it works.
We are in the middle of moving. A lot of the furniture was wrapped in blankets secured by tape. You could not tear this stuff. Neither of the movers had a knife, I had to come to their rescue. Really??? How often do you do this??
