It’s not easy, but they find ways. We’re not talking about tenagers. We’re talking about 11 year olds. My **11 year old** will not have unsupervised contact with teenage boys. In a few years, but not now. ---

Of course, you could lock her up until she turns 18, but then she’ll have to deal with all this then, with no knowledge of how to do so, and much less protection. Who said anything about “until she’s 18?” I’m talking about while she is **11**. ---

Well, I remember being 11, and I was able to meet people without my parents knowing, as were most people that age. Just to make it clear, i’m not suggesting that the behaviour that occurred in the OP is acceptable, I’m suggesting that it could happen to anyone that age. If you forbid your daughter from meeting anyone without your supervision, and she goes against you, she is much less likely to tell you if something happens to make her uncomfortable, and more likely to get into trouble. if you are _certain_ I’m wrong, well good for you, maybe your daughter is unique among children in that she will respect her parent’s every wish and never challenge it. But I still think you are being naive. ---

Heck at my Jr. High boys and girls had separate doors, a large no mans land portion of the grounds dividing boy and girl only areas and STILL I know of several who would find a way to sneak away and neck at recess. (Probably more but I was still naive that year. We won’t talk about 9th grade) ---

It’s not easy, but they find ways. that actually happened to me. chatted for a bit, she even told me she was 18 and a “dancer” at a local club. turned out she was 16, texted random guys, talked to em for a bit to try to hook em in, then tried to get them to buy her cellphone minutes when she was having “money trouble”. One of her friends actually blew the whistle on her, because i seemed like too nice of a guy to screw over like that. Course i had kinda figured it out by that point anyways because her stories didn’t always mesh. ---
