> I did, however, buy a calendar for someone else: I got my mother a 2006 [Weird N.J.](http://www.weirdnj.com/store/product.php?productid=34&cat=250&page=1) calendar, because she’s from Jersey and loves that website. 🙂

The exact calendar I bought today at lunch to replace _last year’s_ Weird NJ calendar, which was a gift from my Dad–Tillie is also smiling down at me … and freaking out my coworkers, though most of them recognized the face as soon as they saw it.

At home, I have a Superman calendar that somebody gave me for Christmas. I would have brought it into work, but I like it enough that I want to write the _important_ stuff on that one … like, when parties are and stuff.

On the desk, I have the 365 Bottles of Beer For The Year calendar, courtesy of the Bus Kid. Wonder if she’s getting at something there??

On the big wall, I have the vendor-supplied July-June calendar including a big-ass picture of, yeah a bus.

The Day Timer is on the desk, open. Though this year I changed from the 2-page a day to 1-page a day, because I don’t take so many notes on that anymore, usually carrying a legal pad for that, or this stupid laptop I seem to be married to,

Stuck to the bulletin board next to me is a laminated January calendar hanging by a pin. I use the Olympus program to make a new one each month featuring one of my own pictures, and one for the Bus Wife as well. Hers usually has a picture of [Erica](http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a39/keylimepie630/cat%20pictures/screwyouimgoingin.jpg), who died on us in August, or of the Bus Kid. This months January for me is [this one](http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a39/keylimepie630/cat%20pictures/wherescuervo.jpg) in which Cuervo discovered that the Christmas tree is in fact, a tree and thus eligible for climbing.

I got too many calendars here, now that I think about it because I just realized there are two others up here that I didn’t even mention.

At work I have our corporate calendar, which I was in charge of this year. I wrote all the text for each month’s member or department profile, hired photographers in three countries to take pictures of our profiled members/departments, and selected and edited the photos we used for each. 25,000 have been distributed in the US, Canada and Australia. I have another one of those at home to write all our bills on, since that’s what’s paying our bills to begin with. 🙂

In my kitchen I have the annual recipe calendar from Kraft, which came free in the mail. Near my bed I have a calendar of _The Endless Summer_, featuring lovely shots of guys surfing four decades ago.

My wall calendar at home is the Denver Zoo. I get one every year as part of my membership.

Work is the normal blah work wall calendar.

I also have a Chicago Reader calendar that I haven’t yet decided if I’m brave enough to hang at work.

I have an American scenery calendar at home. At work and school, I use Yahoo Calendar, since I can get that anywhere and don’t have to carry a datebook.

Because I love art deco and vintage posters, I bought:

1. one with vintage European travel posters

2. one with vintage Canadian train posters

For Christmas I received:

1. a Scrabble page-a-day calendar for work because I’m a Scrabble fiend

2. one with Tom Thomson art because I love the Group of Seven.

I had one of those a few years ago! I liked it. Splat! Hee!

Last year we had an X-Men calendar, which was a gift.

This year, oddly, we have no calendars. We usually get them as gifts for Christmas, but this year, no one got us one.

I feel kind of naked and scared. What day is it? _WHAT DAY IS IT?!_

I love the illustrations, and it’s way handy. I bought [this one](http://www.cedco.com/search1.asp?keywords=outhouses) for my son, which amused us both. We also have three wall-hanging chinese ones, which are very pretty once the advertising is hidden.

On the side of my cube at work I’ve got the **AOPA Air Safety Foundation** calendar.

For the month of January, it has a picture of a Cirrus SR22-GTS with the following Safety Tip:
_Particularly with a new aircraft, be conservative when calculating critical measures such as takeoff of landing distances or fuel requirements. ASF recommends adding 50% to POH distances and at least an hour’s worth of reserve fuel for any flight._

I also see a factoid on Saturday that the first balloon flight across the English Channel occurred on January 7, 1785.

I put my daily notes in **The Far Side Mating Rituals 2006 Desk Calendar**.
