The voice of Jon Miller on my radio describing a single to right in March can only mean one thing - my beloved Giants are once again in Arizona, cavorting among the cacti. (Or not.) I love Spring Training, cause it means that the start of the season is coming up, and I REALLY love that, because there’s so much promise, and the Giants have yet to screw up too badly. Oh, and this season’ll be great because we have a beautiful new ballpark which I cannot wait to see (thanks, Voguevixen!). Anyway, what’s your team? So we know who to heckle/congratulate, you know. I feel the same way about Jon Miller, but that’s because I remember him announcing for **my** team, the Orioles. I’ve lived in San Francisco for several years now and I’m happy to see the Giants do well, I’ve spent many a great afternoon watching them at Candlestick and I am sorry to be leaving this city before the new park opens, but no baseball team will ever stir my heart like the O’s do. Giants as always. It’s a family thing - they moved to SF the spring my mom had her first son, and she decided she had better figure this American game out. She did, and she remains a fan to beat all fans. Opening Day is a traditional family affair - and this year my brother will once again bring his family out from NY for the event. Go Giants! ---

Upstatic: I love the Tigers. I root for them at all times, including when they are playing the Yanks. But, when the post season rolls around and Detroit is looking for ways to “rebuild,” I stand by the NYY. Oh, and my comment about spring training would make more sense if I mentioned I lived in Arizona. Sorry 'bout that. Adam…hoping Juan Gonzalez is a lot more than he’s cracked up to be. ---

Braves!! Loved them when they sucked (pre-1990) and love them now. They still suck, but at least they wait until the playoffs or Series before they do that. It’s going to be real fun watching Rocker play out this season. I can’t wait until the first away Mets game! ---

Granddad taught me about loving baseball. He was a lifelong Southsider so he taught me to be a White Sox fan. The fact that mom and dad were Cubs fans made that affilation more fun in my rebellious youth. I did however grow up seeing old Comisky replaced with that new park (not bad, just bland), saw Reinsdorf repeatedly trade away and let expensive homegrown talent leave, and the final straw watching him trade away the entire pitching staff at the deadline while they were only a few games out of first place. So as I grew, I began to appreciate the perfect beauty that is Wrigley Field, and watching games with dad. I will pull for the Sox until I die, and always want them to win, but when it comes down to choosing sides, and going to the park. I’m nothing more than a Diehard Cubs fan. Win or lose I’ll stick with them, and we all know that lose is that way of the world for a Cubs fan. Yet watching them play in the worlds largest beer garden makes it so much less painful. To you San Fransico fans: How in gods name do you sit through a game listening to that moron Joe Morgan without losing your lunch. What a inarticulate shithead, who doesn’t appear to have a shread of true baseball in his blood. Player or not, this guy shouldn’t be in a box. Gimme Steve Stone any day. ---
