I gave Linus a ball with a microchip in it that talked. If you threw it it would say things like _Hey! What are you doing?_ or _I’m going to get you!_
I had one of those! They were actually made for cats, but my dogs loved them when they were puppies. Mine said: "_I’m going to get you! Hey, what are you doing? Oh no! Ahhhhhh!"_

Scared the hell out of me one night when I went down to the kitchen to get a glass of milk and bumped it with my toe.\* “I’m going to get you!”\* is something you do \*not \*want to hear in the middle of the night in a dark room.
Do dogs like toys in general, or is it something they’re “taught” to like through positive renforcement when they play with them? My family has had four dogs (two for the short term, the others for 10-15 years) and not one of them displayed any interest in toys whatsover. Breeds: Husky-Shepard/Beagle cross; Beagle; Husky Shepard; Samoyed. None related genetically, FTR. Three of the dogs were adults when they lived with us, so maybe they missed something during their formative years. And Princess? Well, she was odd in general. She enjoyed raw carrots and never licked people.

On the other hand, my friend Colleen has a Samoyed (age 9?) and an American Eskimo (about a year) who go insane over squeaky toys. Particularly a duck model that’s mallard colored that they buy at Petsmart.

I think it depends on the dog. My last dog could care less about toys.

Chloe my current dog loves toys. In fact in puppy school I had to bring a toy instead of treats for training her because she couldn’t care less about food but loves to play.

Forgot-

Chloe
West Highland Terrier

She’s 2 and loves balls and squeaky toys but I have a hard time getting any that she’s able to squeak. I guess her mouth is small.

Here’s another pic
I have a question for all of you who buy the squeak toys.

Just how annoying is the incessant squeaking?
Not too bad, because when she gets a new toy it doesn’t take long before she breaks the squeaker. Microchip toys are far more annoying, like the “barking bone” my wife bought for her. ugh.
