Your Favorite Dylan-Song Cover Group/Artist

Peter Paul & Mary’s rendition of “Too Much of Nothing” is another of my favorites. Nice arrangement and nice harmonies.

My favorite cover version has got to be Death Is Not The End from Nick Cave’s Murder Ballads.

Emmylou Harris’ take on Every Grain of Sand is also good, on her album Wrecking Ball.

Buckwheat Zydeco - “On A Night Like This” or
Jason and the Scorchers - “Absolutely Sweet Marie”

Byrds-my Back pages

Byrds: Mr. Tambourine Man- IIRC this was actually released before Dylan’s recording.

Hendrix: All Along The Watchtower- Of course!

Most of my favorites are Byrds/Roger McGuinn covers, but I’ll mention the expanded version of Leon Russell And The Shelter People. Leon does covers of five Dylan songs, my favorites are his fun versions of “She Belongs To Me” and “It’s All Over Now, Baby Blue”.

Yeah, its already been said a lot, but the Jimi Hendrix version of All Along The Watchtower is probably the only Dylan cover better than the original.

I quite liked Sophie B. Hawkins’ version of I Want You.

I think you’re right. Bob had a lot of lyrics bouncing around, and he was on great terms with the band, so IIRC he gave them Mr. Tambourine Man to release themselves.

Johnny Winter’s version of “Highway 61 Revisited” is incredible
but I also like Ron Wood’s version of “Seven Days”.

Van Morrison does an amazing live version of ‘Just Like A Woman’.

Richie Havens does as well.

I don’t care for the Dylan version of any Dylan song, but I do love the Garth Brooks version of To Make You Feel My Love. It’s not really country-sounding… just mellow and soothing.

I sing it to my daughter all the time.

Jimi Hendrix’s cover of “Like a Rolling Stone”. He only performed it live if I remember correctly. Also, any grateful dead Dylan Cover, as was said earlier. Dave Matthews Band did a pretty cool “All Along the Watchtower” as well as Jimi’s version.

woops… sorry about the double post.

I’ll vote for Phish’s rendition of “Quinn the Eskimo”.

Another vote for Mike Ness’ Don’t Think Twice here. Susan Tedeschi also does a cover of that song, which is a very slow and soulful version.

The Pretenders covered Forever Young on the With Honors soundtrack. I almost like it better than the original.

Ida did a wonderful version of Boots of Spanish Leather.
