I love just about every Beach Boys Christmas song, but two favorites that I hardly ever hear (outside of my own iPod) are “The Man With All The Toys” and “Little Saint Nick.”
One well-known in Australia but probably largely unknown to the rest of the world is ‘How To Make Gravy’ by Paul Kelly. Its approaching modern classic level.
It references 21 December, so today is becoming known as Gravy Day, and I’ve seen at least two TV news shows and one radio station play it or talk about it this morning.
And let’s throw in ‘White Wine in The Sun’ by Tim Minchin. Same deal. Makes grown men cry like no one’s business.
