**FOGHORN LEGHORN HAS NO STAYING POWER?!?!?** He was in the “Looney Looney Looney Bugs Bunny Movie”, and his thirty-odd shorts have remained in rotation forever, unlike another favorite of mine, Sniffles. I put it down to a lack of respect for Bob McKimson. FL was his regular. Say, is any of this penetratin’ that little ol’ bonnet of yours? First time someone else shot my mouth off! I like a sneaky, conniving little weasel like you! But the best ever, oddly, was a Sylvester line: Son, she’s about as helpless as a porcupine in a nudist camp. Sheesh! ---

while Bugs and I are personal, long time good (platonic) friends, I fear most of my favorite quotes are in fact from Daffy. My 3 favorite cartoons are the Duck Rabbit Duck ones (that have Daffy, Elmer and Bugs all together). Many of my favorite quotes have already been mentioned, but no one’s done: (from the abomidable snowman one) Daffy: “It was either him, or me, and it obviously couldn’t be ME. I’m not like other people. I can’t stand pain. It hurts me.” Now, I’ll hit the ‘play’ button on my Bugs Bunny watch and go on with my day, thank you. ---

“Hmmm…Pronoun Trouble” (Said by Daffy Duck in one of the three great Bugs-Daffy-Elmer Fudd cartoons of the early 1950s. It’s in response to one of those “Shoot him!” “No, shoot me!” shouting matches) In all fairness, although Mel Blanc was the voice actor who said the words, I’d give credit to Michael Maltese, the oft-forgotten verbal genius who actually WROTE it. ---

Actually a Ben Washam quote, but it became a favorite of Sylvester the cat: “Thanks for the sour persimmons, cousin!” Yosemite Sam: Don’t rush me! I’m thinkin’!..and muh haid hurts! Bugs (to Wile E. Coyote): Are you in, Describable? Are you in, Conceivable? Are you in, Capable? (and so on) Wile E. Coyote: “Wile E. Coyote–Super Genius!” I like the sound of that! ---

Daffy was always my favorite. Bugs got all the Hollywood buzz, but I always thought Daffy was the superior actor. I like when he finally snaps, after being mistakenly shot by Elmer one too many times. “Go ahead! Shoot me again! I love the smell of burnt feathers! And gunpowder! And cordite! Look, I’m an elk! It’s elk season! I’m a fiddler crab! It’s fiddler crab season!” With Bugs, I always loved the Robin Hood one: “Sheriff of Nottingham, meet Little John. Little John, Sheriff. Sherry; Noddy. Noddy; Sherry. S of N; LJ. LJ; S of N.” Yes, I can pretty much recite them all verbatim. ---
