Your Favourite Bowie Songs

Let’s have the tarty ultra-glam I Wish You Would off Pin-Ups. I love Mick Ronson’s guitar in this.

I’ve always had a real soft spot for those Deram-period recordings, even the *really *silly stuff like “Laughing Gnome” and “Uncle Arthur.” My favorite was always “We Are Hungry Men,” which, goofy as it is, is something of a thematic precursor to the apocalyptic dystopia of Diamond Dogs! I’ve had my Bowie iPod playlist on shuffle all week, but when I first heard the bad news I really got a yen to hear that '60s stuff first.

I love his take on Sorrow, too, but I had never seen the video before. It’s about the Bowiest thing ever recorded: the sultry model he’s crooning to isn’t even in his league, and he knows it.

Is… is that Amanda Lear ?

If yes, it looks like she wasn’t out of is league after all:

Seems it was Amanda Lear. Here’s an extended/outtake version of the video:

Anyway, Bowie was always playing in the Galactic Champions League.

Haha, dirty old bugger.

I’ve got Cat People (Putting Out the Fire) on full blast now.

My favorites depend on my mood. When I’m feeling alone and detached, it’s “Space Oddity”. When I’m in a dancing mood, it’s “Modern Love.” When humanity starts working my nerves, it’s “Five Years”. When I’m feeling rebellious, it’s “Rebel, Rebel.” When I imagine myself being in love, it’s “Moonage Daydream.” When I’m feeling nostalgic for the good ole days, it’s “Memory of a Free Festival.”

All weekend I’ve been doing the spontaneous sobbing thing, just listening to these wonderful wonderful songs.

“The sun machine is coming down and we’re gonna have a party …uh uh uh”

:frowning:

ch…ch…changes…
