Your favourite CD no one has ever heard of

This disk absolutely rocks. One of the best metal albums and one of the first I suggest to folks wanting something new/different. This disk will make a non-headbanger thrash about is if they were having a seizure.

Bands that are big in one country may not be big in other countries so our results may be a bit subjective. I live in the mid-south of the US so I’ll add:
Sentenced - Amok (Finns will say everyone has heard of them!)
Opeth - My Arms, Your Hearse
Agalloch - Pale Folklore

NP: Sculptured - The Spear of the Lily is Aureoled

Interesting thread. Here are a few of my favorites:

Slaves Of The New World by Steelhouse Lane

This group features excellent guitar work by Mike Slamer, formerly with City Boy (some of you Brits probably remember them). Everyone who has ever borrowed this CD from me has bought a copy for themselves. Their first album Metallic Blue is also excellent! You can actually preview some of their music at mp3.com:

Shampoohorn by Z

Z is Ahmet and Dweezil Zappa, sons of the genius who brought us timeless classics such as Weezils Ripped My Flesh and Why Does It Hurt When I Pee. Dweezil’s guitar work is outstanding, as usual. Their followup album Music For Pets was pretty good too. Actually, I have pretty much everything that Dweezil’s done except What The Hell Was I Thinking. I’m not sure that was ever released, but I’d kill for a copy!!!

The Day The Earth Caught Fire by City Boy

What can I say, I really like Mike Slamer. Anything by City Boy is probably mostly unknown to Americans, but they were sort of popular in the UK.
Stuff that’s been mentioned (that I have in my library):

Crack The Sky: John Palumbo is a genius… I like Dog City the best, and From The Greenhouse was pretty good, but the album Crack The Sky left me wanting.
Sass Jordan: Fantastic! I didn’t think anyone else had ever heard of her… Rats is excellent!

I recently volunteered to host an early-morning community radio show, so this is all very informative. My own personal favourite obscure CD is The Negro Problem’s “Post-Minstrel Syndrome,” getting high marks in both musical content and witty wordplay.

There’s also a Canadian (I think?) band called Luther Wright and the Wrongs, who do a kick-ass reinvention of Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick in the Wall” in country/bluegrass style. Though I’m not sure of the title.

Kaotic Newtral.
Thank You,Thank You, Thanx.
I too love!!!Catholic Boy !!!
Nothing like a rousing chorus of "People Wo Died " to get me in a good mood.
