I accidentally wandered into the FOAF boards and was hooked for a while. One day I followed a link to the SDMB and I have been here ever since. The link was a rant about potato wedges and was absolutely hysterical. I lurked for quite a while but now I feel like I know y’all and am not quite so shy about posting.
Alrighty then, I’m too embarrassed to tell yall about my first message board experience. I’d never hear the end of it. No, it wasn’t this one, but it was within the past 6 months, and dedicated to a popular actor. For those of you who can figure out where I referenced my name, chicksdigscars, you will be able to find the identity of the actor in question.
This one.
- The first Cc64 “Blue Board,” Blue Hell Sysop’d by Beelzebub (Martin, actually.) Same year I hooked up with Twilight Zone, (Which ran on a home-made “Apple ][” which was layed out on a number of breadboards,) and “The Crunchy Frog,” also a Blue Board.
A work of collaborative fiction by members of The Crunchy Frog (from around 1984, I think) is archived and available on the Intraweb: Cutthroats and Trenchcoats. My contributions are under the name “Thomas Covenant,” for the character Dale Dougall. Some of that stuff is quite funny, if a little imitative of Douglas Adams.
I wrote my own BBS, called Grandfather’s Alligator Farm, in about 1986. It sucked, not to put too fine a point on it.
The Alpha Centuri forum. I also lurked on a few more game forums and an Evolution vs creationism forum. The first forum I posted in was the Galactic Civilization forums but that wasn’t very serious just a few questions and comments I had.
This is the first forum I’ve ever really participated in.
