Is it possible to jam a straw in an orange a la Tropicana commercials? It looks pretty daunting to my eyes, but it might be one of those things, that if you do it just right… ---

You probably can’t do it with yer basic McDonal’s straw, but getcha a straw made of a sufficiently heavy grade of plastic and it shouldn’t be a problem. ---

The trick is to hold your thumb down on one end. When you stab the orange the air inside gets trapped and this makes the straw rigid enough to pierce the orange. This method will work on a raw potato as well. ---
