One of John Lennon’s peppiest tunes to some of the worst lyrics he ever wrote: Run for Your Life, the happiest-sounding song about stalking and domestic violence and threatened murder ever. As it’s the last song on _Rubber Soul_ it’s easy enough to skip, but the tune is so darn catchy. . .

“Well, I’d rather see you dead little girl then to be with another man.” Ugh.

_Semi-Charmed Kind of Life_ by Third Eye Blind. It sounds pretty peppy and upbeat till you find out it’s about Methamphetamines.

And I don’t know if anybody in the world listened to this group but me, but Lucky Boy’s Confusion has a song called _Not About Debra_ that sounds like a pop/salsa mix with lyrics about a guy who beats his girlfriend.

Ben Folds has been playing a slow, subdued version of _Song for the Dumped_ as an encore on his current tour. He prefaces it by saying “It’s a sad song, so I re-wrote it in a minor key.”
