# Your kids' surnames: hyphenated or not?

My wife kept her last name, and even though the point is moot (because we’re not going to have kids), at one time we discussed who’d get what, especially since we hated the hyphenate thing. We came up with a satisfactory solution:

The girls would get her last name, the boys would get mine. The rest is just the luck of the draw.
