The popping noise when I’m filling sufganiyot. Or the solid thump that tells me the challah is ready to come out of the oven. Not sure which. The challah I hear every week, the sufganiyot once or twice a year. Don’t know whether to go with “familiar and comforting,” or “special and exciting.” YMF cooking smell.
