Oops, right. _Game of Thrones_ is generally true to GRRM’s books, which I love; has a great cast and generally good dialogue, epic battle scenes and stunning vistas, political intrigue, erotic scenes, etc. etc. etc. Tyrion murdered his father and his ex-lover; he’s the top advisor to a monarch who roasts alive people who refuse to swear allegiance to her. Not sure “highly ethical” are the words I’d pick. Shades of gray, you know - GRRM’s good at that. Lots of great blues songs out there; I think I’ll go with B.B. King’s “Into the Night” - something about his raspy voice and his guitar playing, and the thumping bass line, really get me: [B.B. Hard to choose, so I’ll go with “Sourcery” by Terry Pratchett. It might not be the best of the Discworld books, but the series is my favorite series, and Sourcery was the book where the series really started to shine. Up until that book, the Wizards had been written in a way that wasn’t all that funny and left very little direction for Pratchett to take them. So he wrote a book that seamlessly fit into the whole series and at the same time reset the paradigm for the Wizards, allowing them to fully integrate into the tongue-in-cheek world he created. And Pratchett would use the same idea of organically resetting storylines or taking them in different directions throughout the rest of the series. MF beer. ---
