For those old coffee drinkers, here’s a trick that really works. Pour it back and forth between cup & carafe a few times before reheating. It make old coffee taste a lot fresher.

works with wine too!

Aerating helps, I guess, though I don’t know the science behind it. When we lived in Egypt and only had access to dreadful locally-produced wine, my friend used to whirr it in a blender before drinking it.

Which reminds me: I saw Cheetos Mac & Cheese in the store the other day. I’m proud to say I didn’t buy any, though I was a little tempted.

My family is repulsed by some of my odd culinary proclivities such as:

- Bisquick in a bowl, made into a paste, and eaten with a spoon

- Peanut butter on cheddar cheese

- Marmite, eaten by the spoonful

- Sardines, heated in the microwave, with crumbled pork rinds.

- Flaming Hot Cheetos and a cup of coffee for breakfast.

Follow me on Pinterest for more gastronomical nightmares.

No cookie recipe ever quite produces the number of cookies described. Not if it’s a _good_ cookie recipe, of course.

So, I’m a bit ashamed on this one.

Was feeling quite lazy, but I had some sausage links, and some of those crescent rolls that come in the tube.

Some may call the creation that I made “Pigs in a Blanket”.

It was okay, but pretty greasy.

If they were raw sausages, I would have pricked and par-boiled them to get a lot of the grease out, but they (as with their cousin, the Hillshire Farms li’l hot dogs) are so tasty, though salty.

I sometimes eat raw meat. When I’m cutting up a big hunk-o-beef for a stew, i sometimes snag a couple of the interior pieces and just eat them raw.

Nothing wrong with that. Contamination is only really on the outside of the meat. As long as you are using clean utensils and fairly fresh meat, there’s very little chance of getting sick.

Not all that different from how I usually eat my steak.

I don’t really like raw egg, but once again, not really that much of a safety hazard. Salmonella is pretty rare these days, especially _inside_ of the shell.

Of course, I use an immersion blender to stir my eggs, not the best to be licking afterwards.

I’m not sure about that. Peanut butter and old cheddar work great on toast and I’m coming around to Marmite thanks to @Mangetout , although eating it with a spoon is beyond me at this point.

Nah, some people eat worse. My father’s favorite sandwich was peanut butter, pickle and mayonase.

However, there’s no way I’m following anyone on Instagram.

Oh, my tuna fish salad? Half a can of tuna, a dollop of mayo and a big dollop of the hottest sauce on hand. Spread it on toasted bread. I really don’t think it needs any veggies.

Bag of chips toward the end? Just a few large pieces and a bunch of scraps. I pour in a bowl, add in a few spoonfuls of salsa, crush up and mix. This is now the dip for the next bag of chips.

Some sharp food company is going to read this thread and come up with a convenience food containing canned chicken, ramen noodles, hot sauce, peanut butter, pineapple slices, and cheap shredded cheese. Not sure how they’ll include cookie dough but if there’s a demand, well?

MSG is great. I am willing to bet everyone on the SDMB knows the MSG headache is bullshit (just before writing this post I was using Lawry’s Seasoning Salt and noticed they have a prominent “No MSG” notice on the label…decades later and the MSG myth is still strong).

That said it is also easy to overstate how useful it is but yeah…go for it. Good stuff. Definitely worth a place in any cupboard.

Shameful culinary practices, cat edition: I give Moki a little can of wet food in the morning. I use a spatula to decan it, and if there’s anything on the spatula, I wipe it off on her side. You want to clean yourself all day? There, I gave you something to clean.

If I saw a product that advertised “Now with MORE MSG” I’d be more likely to buy it.
