People who think that everyone else is dishonest are probably dishonest as well.

A young child was being a bit rambunctious on the sidewalk and his mother cautioned him to be “careful of others’ space, Jimmy.” She went on: “You have to respect others’ bodies and their personal space, Jimmy.”

> It did, however, provide me with prolonged laughter at her expense.

Meh. Telling a kid to respect other people’s personal space is like telling them to look both ways before they cross the street. Repeat it enough times and eventually it will sink in. She said “respect their space” while you might have said “watch it, kid” but either way the message is the same.

> I don’t understand the “turn a corner and go into the closest lane”. That makes no sense to me. I turn every day at a light. When it’s green/clear I move immediately into the farthest left lane, because I will have to turn in a bit and I may as well move all the way over there now when it’s clear.
>
> Personally I hate when people turn into the closest lane and immediately swerve into the left lanes. Just be predictable. When I turn it is clear where I am going. And then I stay in that lane until I make my left. I don’t switch lanes on the way.

I have the same kind of thing in my commute.

The thing I hate the most is when, while making that right hand turn, the guy behind me passes me _in the intersection_ while we are both turning right, and takes the far left lane, forcing me into the right hand lane (which is not where I want to be).

Gr . . .

I guess my judgmental opinion is that people who drive aggressively, who tailgate, end up stopped in the intersection when the light turns red, leap-frog in busy traffic, and otherwise make me have to adjust my behavior so that they can get what they want are disgustingly selfish people, and I’m sure that kind of behavior manifests itself in their lives in other ways.

What about those who smoke and chew gum at the same time? (And yes, I have seen it.)
I always secretly hope they’ll make a mistake and either chomp down on their cigarette or inhale their gum. (hmm, this board needs an evil/scheming smiley. 😉 )

I do say “most” – I believe that celiac disease is a real thing. I just think that there are a lot of bandwagon-jumpers who like being trendy and are experiencing only psychosomatic improvements (if any) as a result of their dietary changes.

What’s funny is that I avoided going gluten free because I thought it was faddy, still believe that I may not have the issues I seem to have, and resent the hell out of anyone else who appears to have gluten issues because I think it makes them (and by association me) look stupid.

My husband thinks it’s pretty funny, and I was just ranting at him about it today, how I’m not sure it’s not just in my head. Where the fuck is my double-blind study?!

Agree on the rest, but this s a myh. The ground-to-pumpkin measurement does not change regardless of how high the suspension is raised. The only way to higher clearance is bigger tires.

This one confuses me. Fog lights, properly aimed, should have less impact to oncoming drivers than headlights. Or is that just a pet peeve?

I assume “high beams” were meant.

If not, I’ll add my own: people who do not turn down their high beams in the face of oncomming traffic, particularly when the can see I turned down mine for them, are assholes.

Though I don’t think that’s overly judgmental … 😉

People who have those multiple, small retina-searing blue headlights are pretentious ninnies. I’d like to have a mirror mounted in my car’s roof that I can deploy, James Bond-style, to concentrate and reflect the beams right back at them, vaporizing their skulls.

I promise you, cross my heart and hope to die, I will never pass you in the intersection. That’s dangerous! In fact the reason it annoys me so is when I get to the far left lane, often the guy on the right decides he’s going to cut me off without even a turn signal because OBVIOUSLY he needs to be in the left lane RIGHT NOW. There is room in front of me, so he does it, but I was just starting my acceleration!

I promise I never pass anyone in the intersection though!

This goes in triplicate to people still whinging about using mobile phones.

People that say “anywho”. You might as well be a yokel, in my eyes.

My students that are “too poor” to afford a $7.00 sketch pad, but had the money for fast food and cigarettes (and let’s not forget the iPhone).

People with what appears to be randomly placed $5.00 tattoos. If you’re going to get a tattoo, get a nice one created by a professional. This especially is aimed at my design students. I wouldn’t want to hire you knowing you didn’t care enough for something so permanent.

Adults that use U instead of you when it’s not necessary. You look like an absolute moron.

I hate it when media reporters say things that are grammatically incorrect. They are role models, for heaven’s sake. They talk about people ‘laying’ at the side of the road, how they should have ‘went’, etc, etc. I think these reporters should have been tested and ferreted out at their interviews for the job, and replaced if they just can’t get it right.
