# Your Pet . . . and Its Name

I had a black cat named Phoenix–named after the mythical bird. Unfortunately (and ironically) I lost him last year when my apartment building caught fire. I have an orange tabby, Griffin, who survived the fire. And I recently adopted a kitten named Conrad. He’s a holy terror.

Our pet is a ferret: Ferry Ferret, to be precise.

A friend claimed to have had a French Poodle named “Phydeaux.” Can’t swear to this one.

I once had a peach-face love bird named “Pip-Pip.” I added a cockatiel named “Buckwheat” and still later added a brown-throated conure named “Third Bird.”

My father’s cat is called “LDC” for “Lucky Damn Cat” as she was picked up in a 7-11 parking lot as a very small, lost kitten. Picked up by my niece who happens to be a Veternarian. So “LDC” got the full treatment before being given to my father.

Well, let’s see. I’m currently sans pet unless you coulnt the cat that used to be mine now stayed with my mother when I moved out, but here’s a list of animals past:  
Cats - Zoe, Ray-Ann (had that name when we got her), Tripod (had 3 legs. We mainly just called him “Kitty”).  
Dogs - Molly and Freddie  
Horses: Moses (aka ‘Moe’), Prince & Glory (the evil mare)  
Fish: A bunch of unnamed fish  
Newts: Two guys who were named Behemoth & Leviathan. I thought the names might boost their little newt self-esteem.
