# Your private, off the wall theories

Experts say we should drink 8 glasses of water every day, but most of the people I see lugging those bigass bottles of water around with them everywhere they go are pretty fat. Either water is actually chock full of calories, or consuming so much of something with no calories tweaks your appetite and makes you overeat to the point of obesity.

Yeah, sure. The annual flu shots _ **are** _ the biologial attacks. They just haven’t perfected them yet.

I believe that many linguistic errors do not originate in linguistic incompetence of one kind or another. Rather they are the result of systematic attempts to protect a vulnerable personal identity by skewing reality with linguistic means.

And I believe that the practice of dumbing foreign names down, is often an example of this. (You demonstrate the cultural “superiority” of your own language by spelling foreign names the way that they really “should” be.)

So i picked up my drycleaning, back behind the counter was the kindly Danish proprietor, friendly a little flirty. He’s hot for a 70something guy. Tan, fit, white hair and trimmed beard, a winning smile. he asked what should he do today on such a gorgeous day, golf, sailing? He looks at me for suggestions, I think “a roll in the hay?”, we both smile, OTWT is he read my mind…
