When I’m clean-shaven, barring the height difference I look exactly like my father would have at my age if he’d worn wire-rim glasses. Maybe a little better, I’m about as old as he was when he quit smoking. ---

I have pictures of my mom as a teenager that resemble pictures of me as a teen, but at late-30s I look a lot different than my mom did in her late 30s. Could be that I never had kids and by that age Mom had teenagers? 🙂 I actually look a lot more like my mom’s sister, even my cousins comment on how much more I look like their mom then they do. ---

We’re indistinguishable. So much so that we cannot convince my four year old nephew that he’s looking at an old picture of Grandpa and not a recent picture of Uncle Enginerd. ---

I look like a female version of my dad. A few years back I saw a photo of him taken when he was young and still had hair and it was pretty freaky. Based on old photos, I look like my dad’s mother too. My husband, his daughter and his late mother were/are practically clones. We have a photo of my step daughter at age 11 framed with one of her grandmother at the same age and it is stunning to see how alike they are. ---

Male, 39 _Do you at your current age resemble your same sex parent when they were the same age?_ Yes, different but pretty close. My father’s hair was darker and curlier. I’m slightly taller. Other than that it’s relatively obvious that I’m his son. I even think that I tend to look more and more like him as I get older. _Are you ordinarily considered to take after said parent?_ Yes. Yet, I think I look a lot more like my uncle (his brother). I remember that when I was 14, I was looking at recent pictures of me with my parents. On one of them, I was making a goofy face and my mother exclaimed: “Wow, you look absolutely like your uncle!” I could sort of see where she got that impression but I wasn’t convinced. However, a few months ago, I saw several pictures of him when he was 20 that I had never seen before and I was stunned. If you had showed them to me and told me that they were pictures of me, I would probably have believed you! The only thing that would have made me doubt would have been the old-fashioned clothes and ridiculously big camera. But that face… Yeah, totally me! ---

When I was in my teens, my dad and I looked so much alike that people would actually mistake me for him. I’m not kidding- people would come up to me and say, “Hey Mark…” (Mark being my dad’s name). Things are different nowadays. The years have not been kind to him (his hard-living lifestyle has taken its toll), and other than facial similarities (once you get past the scars and wrinkles), we don’t look much alike. My dad at 43 was much lighter than I am now (by probably a hundred pounds or more), wore his hair differently than I do now (his long, mine short), and rocked a porn 'stache (I have a goatee). If you put a picture of me now side-by-side with a picture of him then, you’d see a resemblance, but definitely not confuse us for one another. ---

I definitely take after most of the women in my mom’s family. I look more like one of my aunts than I do my mom, but you’d definitely know we’re related. ---

I’ve always had more of my mom’s (and her family’s) facial features (you can definitely tell we’re mother and son if we are in close proximity) than my father’s, but I’ve noticed that as I age (I’m 44) I’m beginning to walk a lot like my dad. Dunno why, but we have almost the same gait. ---

Very little of my mother’s features. I have the under-eye bags that seem to be a feature of most of the women on that side of the family. Otherwise, my father’s genes are the ones that come out most strongly, among me and my siblings. ---

Male. Don’t look a damn thing like my dad. I could be my mother’s brother, though, as far as looks go. In fact, I went to work one Halloween in drag and I looked a LOT like one of my maternal aunts. ---

I always thought I took more after my dad, but last year when I was trying to take a photo of myself in my brand-new bifocals, my resemblance to Mom in those pictures was remarkable. Only my hair is a lighter shade than hers. ---

Yeah, yeah. I look a lot like my mom. It’s kind of scary. Facebook even tried to tag a photo of me with her name! Or was it the other way around? I can’t remember. :eek: It used to bug me, but as I’ve gotten older I don’t mind so much. 😃 ---

Female. 67. I’m 5’7" with a medium frame. My mother was 5’2" with a very slight frame. She was blonde, my hair was nearly black; hers eyes were hazel, mine are dark blue. She had a golden complexion, mine is sallow. I was always told I looked like my father who passed away when I was 5. As I age, I find that I resemble more and more my maternal grandfather! ---

I only have a single photo of my birth father, taken when he was around 21. I was around the same height, similar weight and maybe a few other similarities. BUt I strongly take after my maternal grandmothers family, as does my sister. My two brothers take strongly after my maternal grandfathers family. ---

In 2001, when we were gathering for my father’s funeral, his older brother (whom I had not seen in maybe 6 years at that time) arrived and was waiting downstairs with the rest of the family, as I was one of the last to get ready. When I came into the room, I thought he was going to pass out. So I’d say I bear a striking resemblance to my father, yes. ---

About the only thing I share with my father is a hairline. Thanks Dad. It said that MPB is inherited from the mother, but all the men on my moms side has hair. My sister resembles our mother. In fact I saw my sister when she was in her late 40’s (after not seeing her for a long time) and I thought I was seeing a ghost. Mom was 38 when I was born so my earliest vivid memories of Mom was in her late forties. ---

I strongly resemble my father. There are only a few pictures of him as a teenager but if the age of those pictures wasn’t evident then you would be hard pressed to tell if it was me or him. Of course, standard male pattern baldness hit him and all seven of his brothers at about the age of 22. This led to him just giving up about the long hair arguments we had when I was a teen in the 70s, because it was all going to fall out in a couple years anyway. Except my hair never did fall out and I still have it all, maybe a little thinning at 57. Dad died at 61. In pictures of us at the same age he looks much older than I do, probably that 45 years of smoking that killed him. He came from a large family, 13 children, and a few years after he died when I was about 40, we went to a large family reunion of people who hadn’t seen me since I was ten years old and I didn’t even have to introduce myself. Except that I am not as gregarious as he was. One of my sons looks even more like him than I do, and has a similar personality to his.
