I prefer trousers with a slight break, and can even take no brake (but still covering the laces of the shoe), but a man wearing trousers that show a gap between his shoes and trouser hem looks idiotic to me. Doubly so if he is in a suit with a pair of double monks and no socks…an iGent favorite. ---

What really bugs me about mens’ suits lately is that “too small” look and the flood pants (way too short) ---

Skinny jeans. They should be sold with a warning sticker that says, “Yes, these jeans _do_ make your ass look big.” ---

In the great film _The Descendants_ (2011), set in Hawaii, George Clooney makes the observation that in the 50th state, even millionaires dress like hoboes. And it’s true! The only suit I can recall ever seeing was worn one time only by a Thai student who was graduating from UH and his parents had flown in for the ceremony. Even the bankers wear Aloha shirts. Contrast that with Thailand, where the climate is much more brutal and men will wear suits to show off their power. They’ll sweat like pigs after moments outdoors, but they’re letting everyone know they are important enough to be ensconced in air conditioning most of the time. It’s largely just politicians and bankers and other high-powered businessmen. The men’s suit is probably the worst development to hit this part of the world, completely impractical, and I consider it a major fashion faux pas. ---
