Hi, I am **Mighty\_Girl** , married to **Mighty\_Boy** and mother of 4 month-old **Mighty\_Baby**. How do you call your Significant Other (or Insignificant Other as the case may be) on the SDMB? How do you call your kids? ---

Call mine the wife or the missus, and my 9 year-old, or occasionally the pain in the neck. I find this Ohioguy-girl-babe stuff unbearably twee, I’m afraid. ---

I’m the “grim”, she’s the “pixie” - at least that’s where the name originated, but like **roger** , I tend to refer to her as she-who-must-be-obeyed, although if I had a more adaptable “handle”, I might be tempted… Grim ---

He’s irishfella, but at various times over the years has been referred to as “this guy I’m seeing”, “my boyfriend”, “my fiancé” and now “my husband”. Keeping the same name for him at least lets people know that this is one and the same guy! Sometimes, such as relating a story where one would normally use their name, it’s good to have a handle. ---

Please, **grim** , resist the temptation. It’s when people have three or four kids and they start calling them **Nebraskaliitle\_’\_un** or **Indigocutie\_pie**. And then there’s the whole pets thing: **quondam\_snuggles** or **thomas\_aquinas\_kittie**. And then they get real pissed off when you try to remember the names and you get the bloody underscore in the wrong place. And there you are thinking “fuck this! I got pretty damned close - did these guys really think I should have done a search to check the formatting of their mutt?” and there’s this whole pile-on going on because you didn’t realise that you let this attitude slip out, and people are calling you out in the Pit for not recognising their rights and not being sensitive to or affirming in an appropriate way their nomenclature choices. ---

I’ve been forbidden from referring to my unborn child as “The Bump” by her Mum 😃 So to my friend I refer to her as “b2b” (baby to be) or kiddo to her Mum. Sadly her Mum and I aren’t a couple any more, but since we’re still friendly and she _is_ the mother to my child, I like to refer to her as “Lady Friend” (or LF in texts and emails) but I’ve been banned from using this term in front of her as well 😉 ---

There used to be a Pricegal. Now there’s an ex-Pricegal. I don’t think I’ve referred to other family members in other terms than “my mother” and such. ---

I refer to the current squeeze as ACBG. It means **A** **C** ertain **B** urly **G** entleman. I referred to him a bunch in the Monday Morning Post as a certain burly gentleman when we first started seeing each other. Over time he has become ACBG. He’s not a member here. He has threatened several times to ban me from posting because he thinks this place makes me weird. Little does he know, the weirdness started a looong time before I showed up here. 😃 ---

Well, there is **Mrs. Maxx** , but I haven’t come up with handles for the kids yet. **Thing 1** and **Thing 2** have a certain Suessian quality to them. **Ms. Maxximum** and **Ms. Minnimum** could also work. Any dopers who have any more suggestions feel free to email me. If I like your suggestion I’ll start refering to my kids by your suggestion.
