Hey all. I’ve just written [this review](http://www.livejournal.com/users/colinmarshall/68775.html) of _Flatland_ and was wondering what my fellow Dopers had to say about the book. I’m not askin’ a really specific question, just wondering what you thought of it (Love? Hate?) and how your notes compare to mine.

It’s been a long time since I read it, and my copy’s on the other side of the world right now, but I’d have to say my opinion jives with yours. Very entertaining book.

Ian Stewart’s sequel [Flatterland: Like Flatland, Only More So](http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/073820675X/qid=1079488779/sr=1-2/ref=sr_1_2/002-5577520-3959228?v=glance&s=books), is also worth a read. It looks at some more advanced ideas like fractional dimensions and space curvature, but does so in a very understandible way.

Hey wow, thanks! I’d never heard of that one – just Dionys Burger’s sequel, _Sphereland,_ which I enjoyed but not quite as much as the original.

I assume we’re all also _The Dot and the Line_ fans as well?

There’s also \<i\>The Planiverse\</i\> by AK Dewdney and \<i\>Spaceland\</i\> by Rudy Rucker. What are all these spin offs? Geometrical fan fic?
