> [@rickp](#): > > Thunder Road, Bruce Springsteen I almost died because of that song! In college, at a bonfire. Drinking Captain Morgan straight from the bottle. Someone suggested singing. I ask who, someone yells “Springsteen!” I put my arm around a girl from our dorm and start singing Thunder Road. She’s getting into it. She’s getting more into it. Then I look right at her for the line “You ain’t a beauty, but, hey, you’re all right.” For some reason, she took offense and tried to push me into the fire! ---

Number one for me is easy. Led Zeppelin’s _Kashmir_ is the greatest song in the history of the universe. Two is a little tougher, but I’m going with _Black_ from Pearl Jam. Hauntingly emotional lyrics, sung from Eddie Vedder’s shattered heart. And I’m sitting here trying to come up with a third, and can’t narrow it down. Maybe _Bohemian Rhapsody_ or _Layla_? 🤔 ---
