I almost died because of that song!
In college, at a bonfire. Drinking Captain Morgan straight from the bottle. Someone suggested singing. I ask who, someone yells “Springsteen!” I put my arm around a girl from our dorm and start singing Thunder Road. She’s getting into it. She’s getting more into it. Then I look right at her for the line “You ain’t a beauty, but, hey, you’re all right.” For some reason, she took offense and tried to push me into the fire!

I’ve never mentioned the song to my wife for that very reason!

Baba O’Riley (For 30+ years, I thought the title was “Teenage Wasteland”) - The Who

I endorse this choice. I used this as the theme song for my last (heavy netrunner) Cyberpunk 2077 playthrough.

“Rock and Roll” - Velvet Underground
“Won’t Get Fooled Again”- The Who
“Telegraph Road” - Dire Straits
Number one for me is easy. Led Zeppelin’s Kashmir is the greatest song in the history of the universe.
Two is a little tougher, but I’m going with Black from Pearl Jam. Hauntingly emotional lyrics, sung from Eddie Vedder’s shattered heart.
And I’m sitting here trying to come up with a third, and can’t narrow it down. Maybe Bohemian Rhapsody or Layla ?
Johnny B. Goode - Chuck Berry
Gimme Shelter - The Rolling Stones
Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen
The End
When The Music’s Over
A Day In The Life
The first two are obvious coming from me. The last one is the best song by the most influential band of all time. All are epic masterpieces.
Well, I’ll go with a purist definition.
Move It On Over - Hank Williams
Rave On - Buddy Holly and The Crickets
Memphis Tennessee - Chuck Berry
