I’ve got a bunch of these.

I won’t eat a hotdog like normal. I chop up the wiener (fried or grilled only!), tear the bun to pieces, then mix both with condiments of choice and eat it that way.

I eat ketchup sandwiches, which is just ketchup on bread. I also eat ketchup, saltine, cheese sandwiches. Another is pizza sauce, pepperoni, cheese sandwich.

I won’t put ketchup on my burger, but I will dip it into ketchup before taking a bite.

I won’t eat poultry of any sort, with the exception of turkey pepperoni. Actually, I physically can’t eat poultry. There’s something about the texture that triggers my gag reflex, and I’ll choke if I try to swallow. Which is really a shape, as I love the taste of bbq chicken, and a well cooked turkey. ☹

I like to let my raisin bran soak in milk for 20+ minutes before I eat it. (Only ever saw my family do this.)

Not exactly food, but when I’m at a place where I can fix my own fountain drink, I’ll get a little bit of each drink offered. (Really fun at those fountains that have 15+ choices.)

There’s some weird ones in there, but assuming this can be generalized to soaking cereal that is normally eaten crispy for awhile so it gets soggy, that’s not really uncommon.

Kraft also makes sandwich spread. I’m never without a bottle. It works great in lieu of tartar sauce for fish, also.

We used to do that when we were kids and do it yourself soda fountain machines were relatively rare. We called the resulting drink a “suicide”. I don’t know if other kids called it that, or if it was just my brothers and me.

No, not just you. Me and every kid I knew growing up called it a suicide.

I like my drinks to be room temperature, I hate ice in soda.
I like beer room temperature too.

Me too, on the soda part. I learned it at an old job. I used to drink lots of soda, so I could bring in 12 packs. I had a dorm style fridge in my cube, which I let other people use to store lunches and such. If I kept sodas in the fridge, they would sometimes vanish. So I learned to just drink them at room temperature.

Beer? I prefer it cold.

I got used to drinking Dr Peppers at room temperature for a while, and then when I tried drinking a cold one, I found it almost had too much of a bite to it.

makes sense; cold water carbonates easier and more readily retains dissolved CO2.

Anybody here ever spread (unsweetened, natural) peanut butter on Oscar Meyer bologna, and then wrap it around a cold hot dog?

My mom used to do this for a treat. She was a Type I diabetic, FWIW. But I liked it when I was little. 😃

I haven’t eaten this in a while, but I like to mix diced green olives with cream cheese, spread it on toasted rye bread, and top it with a slice of ham. The salad olives are good for this. Between the ham and the olives, one slice probably has enough sodium to last you for most of the day. But it’s quite savory. It works nicely on most crackers, too.

I really can’t compete with these weird habits you people have but here’s couple of mine.

I don’t care to eat corn off the cob. My preferred decobbing technique is to break a chilled ear in half and manually twist each kernel off by hand an pop in my mouth. Since you need both hands, this is typically done in front of the TV or similar.

I’m constantly misplacing my half finished beers around the house. Next morning, I’ll locate and drink the warm, flat goods. I call this ‘Bringing Home the Wounded Soldiers’.

I have absolutely no sweet tooth and in fact, actively dislike sweets. No candy, no cookies, no cake. I always say ‘Skim milk ONLY’ at Dunkin Donuts or whatever to make sure there’s no sugar. It is too hot to sip when they pass it to me over the counter and by the time I try it, I’m miles away. I still clearly remember the last time they sugared my coffee a couple years ago: Five minutes of top-of-my-lungs swearing since I was heading to a work appointment on the interstate and didn’t have time to find another cuppa.

I’m gonna nominate this for the funniest thing I read on the the Dope between now and 2013. In fact, I read this on my phone while at my Mom’s birthday party, started laughing, and everyone looked at me like 😕, so I read it out loud, and we all busted a gut.

“Bringing home the Wounded Soldiers”… brilliant!

He’s more lenient than we are. They’re called dead soldiers in our house.
