I used to be EuroMDguy because I was a European guy living in Kensington, MD…then I moved back to Europe and figured I couldn’t keep that username. When I moved to the UK I wasn’t quite sure where I was going to live (in London or just outside) so I decided to give myself my current name. It’s a valid name because I might still end up living in London one of these days ---

It’s a short story from _The Bloody Chamber_, I was reading it at the time. I don’t particularly relate to the story, not being especially menstrually-fixated, but I like to switch usernames every so often and wolves are pretty rad, so… I also think it would be a pretty good band name but unfortunately I have all the natural musical talent of horseradish\*. Into my collection of Imaginary Band Names it shall go! (See also: Ronnie and the Fence-Posts, Crystal Wolf Bears). \*So I play the _drums_! ---

A couple I used to know were arguing about what pet to buy, and it came down to which pet that could beat the other in a fight. He wanted a gecko, she wanted a mini pig. I was arbitrator. In the end we figured that the gecko would probably win due to its cold blooded killing instincts, unless she managed to breed a mini pig specific for combat. That breed would be know as the kombatminipig. Realizing that breeding pigs in a student apartment was too much trouble, she made me an honorary kombatminipig instead, and I modified my IRC nickname to match. I think they ended up getting a couple of hampsters. ---

I’m from a place called Navarra and, having seen how badly foreigners choke when trying to pronounce that double R, figured I’d leave the last syllable out. Oh, and the v is a phonetic b. ---

Panurge is a rather entertaining character from Rabelais’ _Gargantua & Pantragruel_. I retrospect I find that the name is a bit boring, actually. I wanted **Kaspar Hauser** but it was already taken. I should have gone for **Mahaganapati** (another name for the Hindu deity Ganesa) instead. ---

But what the hell. For one thing, I ain’t all that cool. For another thing, I’m already established here as norinew. If I _did_ change it, though, I’d probably go for Queen Laura DeLoessian. Because _The Talisman_ is one of my fave all-time books, and I’ve always loved the way the name just rolls off the tongue. ---

Mine usename sprang from a comment by the 4th Doctor, Tom Baker, in the classic Doctor Who serial _Pyramids of Mars_. He said, “I walk in Eternity Sarah” or something very similar, so I decided to change my user name to Walker in Eternity. It’s appropriate because I do a lot of walking and like **Chronos** have a thing about time. ---

I always enjoy reading these threads. Mine’s not very interesting. I have always been fascinated by snakes, and rattlesnakes are the most fascinating snakes of all to me. Most rattlesnakes belong to the genus Crotalus. ---

I think that’s pretty cool. Obscure and snake related. I like obscure facts, such as the three smallest bones in the human body. I had wanted to use Malleus, Incus, Stapes! for a while, but the Dope was the only place where I thought people would get it. Other places I’m mostly Raven Lunatic. ---

Professor Lucifer Gorgonzola Butts was the name of the inventor drawn by Rube Goldberg that made all the wacky machines. I like Rube Goldberg contraptions and used to draw my own cartoons as a kid. I also like the name. Yer pal, Lucifer Oh, I used to be known as Eyer8, don’t ask me why (I can’t remember). ---

I have this idea for a series of children’s books, where at the last chapter of each issue the hero, a kitten called Will, faces some kind of unbelievable complex mortal danger, preferable involving a combination of lasers, sharks or volcanoes, each book would end with: Will the Kitten Survive? And their would be contest for the kids to figure a way how Will would survive, the winning idea would be incorporated in the next book, picture of the winning kid on the back of the book, and with a honourable mention and some goodies for the runner ups Also it works as Schrödinger’s cat reference…kinda ---

My usual nickname was already taken so I fell back to a family heirloom. My ancestors were mostly Siberian and we have an old kopek that has been passed down from generation to generation on the understanding that as long as one of us has it, our family isn’t broke. Usually the branch having the hardest times gets it as a sort of good luck charm. It has a pretty good track record that way too so we all value it pretty highly. ---

My favorite christmas show is Emmitt Otter’s Jug Band christmas, and I wanted a dog named Emmitt and a dog named Otter, so I could have my own “jug band christmas”. Our first dog was called Emmitt, unfortunately passed away. We went to the rescue league to get a new dog (such an empty hole in our hearts without a doggie) and found an adorable terrier mutt mix. We named him Otter. When we were taking him home, it turned out to be a pretty hot day so far that summer, and my husband said “we’re bringing home Otter, and its 'otter 'n hell”. As in its hotter than hell. Squeeze that all together and you get Otternell. Ironically, Otter **hates** to swim. Literally freezes up in like two inches of water. :rolleyes: ---

My favorite play is \*Cyrano de Bergerac, \*and the final line, as Cyrano is dying, is “My panache.” But it depends on which translation you’re reading. ---
