You're a quadruple amputee. Would you rather replace your lost limbs biologically or bionically?

Oddly, full bionic enhancement seems to be leading. Me too, please and thank you. (Yes, assorted goodies would be nice - phaser, for example - big NO on the mobile phone - I’ll pick that up when I want to talk. STOP CALLING.)

If I could do interesting things with the biological limbs, I’d probably give in to my inner furry and get crazy kangaroo legs or something. Under the terms of the hypothetical, though, you can just start calling me Steve Austin.

Who the hell wants biological limbs? Evolution works much more slowly than human technology, and it is a safe bet that soon bionic limbs will be stronger, safer and cause less pain than biological ones.

I read an article several years ago from amputee athletes (at least leg amputees) claiming that the changeability of their lower limbs gave them an advantage in various sports. You pick one lower leg for climbing, another for running, and you do better than you would with biological ones.

Biologic all the way for me.

Do they come pre-tattooed?

I didn’t vote at all because given the given ------ I JUST DON’T FRIKKEN CARE!!! As long as I get them back I really couldn’t give a shit where they came from.

Am I limited to just the missing components or can I request additional upgrades as well?

While I already have a reputation as a lover extraordinaire, doing no-handed push ups would just put me in a league of my own.

On the modular arm thing. How many attachments does that come with? And how much are additional upgrades?

You were on Pallas’s business when you got chopped up, so we at RhE are happy to be generous in repairing the damage. So feel free to talk to your surgical team about the modular arms. But bionic dicks are another story. You want one, you’re paying the going rate.

I was leaning towards no bionics at all, but then you brought phasers in. I’d get reinforced super-legs and one of each arm. I definitely wouldn’t go for the built-in mobile phone, though some of the other implants look interesting.

Oh, and the fact that Skald has chosen all biological makes me a wee bit . . . suspicious.

This is your dumbest poll ever, Skald. Of course I’m going bionic. Why would you even ask?

You never know when some rival super-villain is gonna come after you with an EMP cannon.

Anyway, as I posted upthread, if RhE were going to put in some sort of mind-control gizmo in the cybernetics, we’d have already done so; we wouldn’t overcomplicate things by trying to be clever. Over thinking evil plans is what gets guys like me killed.

Went with bionic once I saw that tactile features would be included.

Bionic with superpowers is the only right choice.

Biologic all the way. Bionics will need batteries, even chargable batteries need replacement, what if the batteries are no longer manufactured (hello Type A batteries). Also who wants to sit around plugged in to recharge.

One bionic arm is enough. The other can still be fully human for the things I’d really rather still have the human touch for… Which I’m sure would come up. I’m left-handed but do plenty of stuff with my right hand, so I’ll go with left arm bio, right arm enhanced mechanical. As a side bonus, I’ll also be the most awesome cosplayer of Edward Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist imaginable. (Though far too tall to be convincing :)).

The legs? I thought about going supermech on both those puppies, but it occurred to me that doing effective cardio exercise would be nigh impossible without physical legs. Which based on my own past non-regular-cardio life history, would mean I’d end up getting some kind of lard-ass belly hanging over super legs in just a few years. Hmm.

I’d be perfectly happy to have a reset of “mint out of the box” condition natural bio legs, as my knees are starting to creak and crackle and bark, and the big toe on my left foot goes numb from time to time after I broke it in a motorcycle injury a few years back. I’d call that a win.

I was going to say “Whichever one offers the greater functionality”, but it looks like that’s clearly in favor of the bionics. So, yeah, I’ll go for that. And while there’s no reason not to go for the full superhero option, if it were a choice between that and the gadget pack, I’d take the gadgets. I’ve always been a utility-belt type.

Hmm indeed-- This hadn’t occurred to me before. Just how does someone with four bionic limbs get any exercise? That could be an issue.

It sounds like you’re asking me if I’d like to become Nathan “Bionic Commando” Spencer. Because, sign me up!

How badly will the bionic option fuck up screenings at the airport?

(I fly out of Boston, so we get the full-body scanning. Considering how confused they were by my mom’s hip replacement, I don’t really trust them to understand, “I haz bionic legs!”)

Me, too. And I’d like to be under sedation for a long time because I don’t want anything to hurt like hell. I’m a wuss.

I’m leaning toward biologic, but bionic sounds cool…so I’m torn.

RhE is happy to provide documentation showing that you were grievously injured and had metal plates implanted in your legs and arms. It’s barely a lie.

We’re not offering you a JOB, man. If you want to work for RhE, you’ll need to submit a resume, a proposal, and a Welshman freshly slain by your own hand.
