I go to a medium sized college, which isn’t exactly a hotbed of political activism…but we have our flakes I remember a guy in my class haranging about how oppresively “Eurocentric” our curriculum is…then he went on about why we should be more like France in general. Also I remember a (decidedly Anglo) guy who insisted we call Hispanics “Latinos”, as Hispanic is a term for “white people”, and it overemphasizes the Spaniards. I asked him there was a precolumbian culture in Mexico called the “latini”? ---

I think **Daowajan** was talking about what used to be called “Parlor Pinks”, people who have no real idea about sociallism, nor any clue about the conditions that brought sociallism into existance, nor any first- (or second, for that matter) experience on the issues they’ve adopted, and are doing it all because it’s trendy and “oh so shocking” to the rest of us. And they do it while sucking from the capitallist teat they claim to loathe. Am I right? **matt** , by finding yourself in the proletariat, you are, by definition, not a Parlor Pink, nor is anyone who actually gets out and tries to achieve something substantial. Mind you, I’m slightly right-of-center myself, but most of my family is left-of-center, and while I’ve got quite a bit of sympathy for some of the causes, I’ve seen too many dilettantes to have much respect for campus lefties. ---

At least at your school it sounds as if they write legibly. I spent about an hour one time trying to figure out what in hell a “banthe bomb” was. Seriously. I thought it might be some special light-weight explosive or something. Materials Science was advancing quick back then, as it is now. Bastards ought to get sent back to first year drafting, and learn to block- letter correctly! Facists! ---

There I was, holding left hands with my significant other, wearing a T-shirt that said, “Only Left-Handers Are In Their Right Minds,” chanting, “We’re here! We’re sinister! And we’re not going away!” After I left college, I quickly went back to my right-handed ways. It started when, at my new job, met a really handsome guy, and he seemed really nice and had a great sense of humor, and he was writing with is right hand. I was a little nervous picking up the pen the first time, but it just seemed so natural! I told him about my left-handed phase, and he was very respectful and understanding. Now, I’m a righty again, and that man has been my husband for two wonderful years. But my wedding ring is on my left hand. ---
