3 is closer to “home fries” to me, but the terms seem to be used somewhat interchangeably. Personally, I don’t prefer any of the above styles, though I will eat them all. I worked in a breakfast restaurant many years and we used home fries that were not uniform in size or appearance. We used sliced potatoes and chopped them on the griddle.

I don’t like ketchup on potatoes, but I will use it to choke down inferior/tasteless french fries. I find that well-made, well-seasoned potatoes don’t need it. Vinegar is good. As I’ve posted before, I grew up in a town with a very popular french fry stand that does not stock ketchup.

I’ll order a drink before dinner, but never drink it with the meal or a few hours after. I have no desire to pair a chardonnay with a shrimp dish or scotch with a steak. It’s only water and/or soda with meals, and I’ve lived with a beer gut for years.

I don’t believe in drinking anything without food, except for water.

I dip my fries in mayo. It’s a Euro thing.

Peanut butter and mayo sandwiches.

Peanut butter and sriracha on hot dogs.

Deli ham or turkey with whatever jam is handy.

I don’t like cold pizza, to the shock and horror of the rest of the world, apparently.

Other teppan-yaki places have a mayonnaise-based sauce and a non-ginger savory sauce but I haven’t found other places with ginger.

As God is my witness it wasn’t until recently that I found out the ginger was supposed to be used to cleanse your pallet. Not sure what the wasabi is for. Clean your sinuses out so that you can taste the food better?

I’m not sure I would survive a visit to Japan because I also put sugar in green tea. Would probably need to get a tattoo that says 馬鹿.

It takes a certain kind of pizza to taste good cold. many of them take on a quality that is best described as a food hangover.

I like yogurt on pancakes. In fact, it’s the only use I have for that blended tastes-like-candy yogurt.

Second ketchup on my (soy) hotdogs. I also put cheese on them, seeing as they’re soy and all. I never liked meat hotdogs, but I love soy dogs.

Arguably, eating fried chicken cold is not “wrong,” since its popularity to a large extent was based on its relative portability and usefulness as a travel/picnic food in a time when black people would find it difficult to find a restaurant to serve them when they were traveling.

This is very good… but so very unhealthy. I sometimes indulge with just a taste of mayo per fry. If you like flavored or spiced mayo as well, there’s almost no bad options out there.

Nothing wrong with mayo with fries, but it is a bit overkill on the fat front. I do prefer cold pizza vs nuked pizza, though. If I’m going to heat pizza, it’s in a pan, at the very least.

Chicago born-and-bred, though I may be, I will sometimes put ketchup and even mayo on a dog, when I’m doing it Sonoran or Tijuana style.

Here’s a different one:

I just had a white chocolate-macadamia protein bar with a dollop of Valentina’s extra hot sauce. Despite the “extra”, it’s not all that spicy, but a little salt/hot goes well with the sweet. I’m pretty sure that outweirds most sauces that people put on potatoes. Let’s face it, potatoes’ main purpose is to be a substrate for sauce and/or salt.

> I do prefer cold pizza vs nuked pizza, though. If I’m going to heat pizza, it’s in a pan, at the very least.

Nuked pizza is awful. I turn the oven on to 350 and toss the slice in there on a piece of foil. When the oven reaches temperature, I turn it off and wait ten minutes. By that point the cheese is re-gooeyed, the crust is re-warmed without getting crispy, the beer is poured, and I am SO READY for that pizza.

When I panfry chicken, I let it cool to room temp before tucking in. Hot fried chicken just ain’t right. I use the time to make gravy in the pan for the rice or mashed potatoes.

But hell, those things are CORRECT.

Everything I eat is CORRECT. You guys stop doing it wrong.

Especially you ketchup-on-hot-dog people.
