The thing about the “xxxxmom” usernames is that they’re so _many_ of them. So damned many of them. Is it a coinciendence that the OP singled out “mom” usernames, instead of “dog” or “dad” or “fan” usernames? No. It’s because they’re so _many_ of them. It’s gettin’ old. ---

But I don’t think he (she?) is. It wasn’t started in the Pit, after all. It’s just one of those things that kind of wears thin after a while. Now, like I said earlier, the “mom” usernames from this board seem to be owned by pretty sharp people. So I don’t actually feel any irritation at someone who is so obviously insightful and sharp. However, if you are noticing a decided “trend” in usernames, you start to get tired of it. XXXmom this, SSSSmom that, over and over and _over_. If you started noticing a lot of usernames with “Fred Durst” in them, year after year, it would start to make your eyes roll too. Or just about any other word. You reach a saturation point and then you want to say, “Enough!” ---

Well, yeah, it _is_ a perfectly nice choice. Certainly nothing _wrong_ or offensive with it. But I suspect that there’s a “bandwagon” effect going on, by people with little imagination. As I mentioned before, people who use little imagination sometimes can be a little dull-witted. Maybe. Perhaps. Some of the time. (But certainly not on _this_ board!) 😉 (No, actually, I’m serious. The dull-witted are not usually drawn to this board.) But to be fair, the “bandwagon” mentality of some people should not reflect poorly on those who choose the username, knowing that it’s _exactly_ what they want for whatever reason. ---

Since parents were usually relying on the kid telegraph to tell them who was who, the shirts made it handy for folks to find the correct parent to get the information on when the band/cheerleading/drill team, etc. was going to be doing what. ISTR there being several threads with the title like “Crotch the Weed! It’s My Mom!” where someone introduced their mother had joined us. On a smaller message board I can well imagine a parent doing something similar as to what the students mothers in my high school did. ---
