YouTube ? Right time & place, and I got it all on video

Well, Do we know what this was yet?

Or, maybe he’s afraid that he will be identified and his anonymity on this board will be gone, for whatever that’s worth to him.

You are correct.

*His unwillingness to share the video’s topic just makes no sense to me. Maybe it would if I saw the video, but to describe it and not show it to us would not really ruin his chances of hitting it big, unless of course we knew the person he has on his camera and could go up and ask them to duplicate the behavior for us and beat him to youtube or something.
*

I told one person whom I trusted in PM (who also gave me some very good advice) what I have, and they agreed not to share it with the board, and if they drop in I’m sure they will concur that this can’t be duplicated.

I’ve had two offers on the video.

You got that right.

It was a video of Chris Christie pushing a stalled car off to the shoulder to clear traffic on the George Washington Bridge, wasn’t it?

So what’s the hold up? Strike while the iron is hot.

A serious question: Why do you care about anonymity on this board? Even if you were, say, Brad Pitt - who cares? What would sharing that matter? I’m not being snarky, I really am trying to understand this. You are using an anonymous username, right?

If you seriously want to promote the video, post it to every single one of the sites directly above the quick reply box.

del.icio.us?

I’m still confused about this. How would youtube make money before you unless they somehow got hold of the video and uploaded it themselves? Is there even a precedent for that?

At any rate, I hope that when this video is finally unleashed on the world through whatever medium pays you best, you revisit this thread with a link or reference

I think the OP meant YouTube making money on it in the interval between uploading and confirmation of monetisation.

If that was, say, a 5 day period (it isn’t, but suppose it was), the peak views for a massively viral video could all happen within that period.

The staler this video gets, the lower the value will be. People care more about what some celebrity did recently than last month or last year.

Well LurkerinNJ, were you able to cash in?

Just to clarify and qualify the above - sometimes, the delay in between uploading and confirmation of monetisation can be long - I’ve got one at the moment that is sitting ‘under review’ because YouTube’s content matching engine thinks it contains someone else’s copyright content (it doesn’t) - I suspect I will not be getting the revenue share for this period prior to the resolution of the review.

Not that it matters much in this case, because the video is not going viral and is unlikely to.

Oh, and bump, because I am curious as to whether the OP ever did anything with the video.

It was this, wasn’t it?

Well?

That’s a nice tnettenba

youtube’s delay to monetize is probably because they don’t want to monetize viral videos nor simple videos of the world outside.
They want it to be your own work… as in acting or music or instructional or whatever…
but your own effort. You probalby won’t get it for a one off .
You can check their policy, What kind of content can I monetize? - YouTube Help

Still curious… did we ever find out what this video was?

Actually, they don’t really care much about quality or intent, only legal ownership/right to use. They’re perfectly happy to monetize artistically worthless content, or anything - including viral videos, as long as the person uploading it has the rights to it.

Wouldn’t releasing some details help to add hype before the release of a video?

I like how you have decided on behalf of the Queen that a video of her twerking is good for her and that she would be happy to have to published. Its good that you would make that decision for her.
