Very nice catch call, Earl. Poor Jesus has usually been one Toke over the line in message; I was surprised to see it so blaised on this Welk show clip. ---

Note that the YouTube video is from “shipleyt.” That’s Tom Shipley himself, of Brewer and Shipley, who originally performed this “spiritual.” He was apparently [amused](http://www.brewerandshipley.com/Misc/OneTokeWelk.htm). Strangely enough, Welk himself does not appear in this video. ---

They guy holding the baton at the end sure looks and sounds like Lawrence Welk. Is it just a coincidence that the accordion player coughs during the introduction? ---
