As inspired by [this](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=468170) thread, what type of pet would you be? I’d probably be a parrot, flying around, saying inane things, and biting anyone who tried to touch me. ---

I would be a cat, a run of the mill domestic short haired cat. I would nap 22hrs a day, with the bulk of my activity being in the evening when normal people are trying to wind down. I would be affectionate when I felt like it and on my terms only. I especially would be affectionate with people who hate cats, because it would annoy them so. I would play with yarn. ---

I’d be a silver tabby. I probably wouldn’t be any more lazy than I already am. I would be the mighty hunter of bugs, feathers, and sparkly reflections on the carpet! I’d probably end up being one of those weird cats that love water. (I have a feeling you’re going to get a lot of kitty responses) ---

I’d be a chunky mutt, with a lot of rat terrier in me. One that’ll scarf down anything that bears a vague resemblance to being edible, and a propensity to chase every moving creature within the property line. Hey, you there! Yeah, the rabbit in the field over there…just try crossing this line! I’ll be digging a hole now, but I got my eye on you… ---

I’d be the fattest cat in the household. The one no one bothers with string and laser pointers because I mostly just want to stretch out on a sunlight wedge of light near the window and sleep until more food shows up in the bowl. Ah, that would certainly be the life. ---

Maybe this is why I have them myself, but I would be a long haired chihuahua, probably a red sable in color, and on the larger side - definitely not a teacup. I am by no means hyper, but I always keep busy. I am suspicious of, and have no interest in meeting new people, but I am fiercely dedicated to my close circle of loved ones. I can be difficult at times, stubborn, set in my ways, but my loyalty and general cheery demeanor still make you want to have me around. ---

I’d probably be a hobby farm’s draft horse. I’d be pressed into action for hard-core, down and dirty work now and again, but mostly I’d just stand around enjoying the shade under the apple tree with copious helpings of carrots and pats. ---

I would insist on belly rubs/back messages on a regular basis. Petted would be nice as well. I would be a cat for sure if I could be. Hey! I get to sleep for 22 hours a day and my humans will keep my food bowl full and empty the litter box. ---

Big dumb dog that will try to fetch a snowball, but bring back any old hunk of ice from roughly he same area as where the snowball landed. Confused when it melts before I get it back to my human. ---
