My colleague had to visit a lady by the name of “Mrs Diklic”. Of course, after much silliness from the rest of us (“Haha! ‘Mrs Diklic/Mrs Likdic!’”), my colleague accidentally called her “Mrs Likdic” to her face. I still stay Mrs Diklic only married him for the humour value.
There’s a John Thomas here who plays lawn bowls. The old blokes who call the televised matches have a field day with that one. “John Thomas has risen to the occasion…John Thomas has been huge this season!”.
And there’s a gynae called Dr. Elvis Seman.

My friends husband is a pediatrician and hears all sorts of funny names. The only ones I can think of off the top of my head are…wait for it…Endometria and Vajina :eek: :smack:

The man with the perfect name for his business: Otto Byers was a used-car dealer in the 1920s-1960s in the small Oregon town where I grew up. My grandfather bought a car from him in the 20s.
My high school girlfriend’s older brother was a member of the Oregon State swim team circa 1964-67. His name: Chris Guppy

This lady was my dad’s third wife. That last name was mine until I changed it to Parsons which I found to be a better fit. It’s a misspelling of the original Klebsattel or Klebsedl (or other variations). I never found it awe-inspiring – just didn’t like having to spell it every time I was asked my name. There is a restaurant in Aberlady, near Edinburgh, called Duck’s run by Michael Duck - very good actually if you are visiting.
He father was named Donald Duck. From ages I am guessing Donald would have been born in the 30’s so might just predate the 1934 cartoon character. I bet he had a hard time at school though.
There was also a new Irish lad who was late for his first lesson with the new history master at my school. “What’s your name, boy!?” the teacher asks, “Justin O’Fahore” he replies. “I didn’t ask why you were late, I asked your name!” comes back the immediate response. The teacher wouldn’t get away with that nowadays…
What were his parents thinking?

There’s a baseball player (used to be Cub…dunno where he is now) who’s name is Angel Pagan.
Granted it’s pronounced Ahn-Hell Puh-Gahn, but I still see it at Angel Pagan.

A friend of a friend is an elementary school teacher who once had a student with the first name Shithead, pronounced SHITH-eed (the first syllable rhyming with “Smith”). I’m guessing it’s a fairly normal name somewhere in the world, but here in the US, it’s bound to draw abuse. Poor kid.

I take it with a grain of salt as with any friend-of-a-friend story, but the guy I heard it from is trustworthy enough and a mutual friend heard it from the teacher too so I believe at least that the teacher said it, whether or not it was true.

The version I heard was from a nurse, of course with a minority baby involved, and the pronunciation being shuh-TAY-uh. :rolleyes:
Anyhow, my high school precal teacher was Susan Lucheon, or “Sue Lucheon” (last name pronounced “LOO-shun.”)
In my circle of friends, I have the surnames Greedy, Crook, and Swindler represented. I always thought those three should be partners in a law firm.

There used to be a pair of MLB pitchers named Jim Gott and Tim Teufel. Their last names are German for “God” and “Devil”.

I once met a lady named Astrida Penis . . . pronounced exactly like “astride a penis.” Wherever she was from (Latvia?), it was a fairly common name.
I have also known Harry Dick, Dick Pounder and Penny Stamps.

A kid at my high school named Sal unfortunately took his stepfather’s last name when his mother remarried Mr. Manilla.
A guy I worked with was named N. Wayne Bailey, and all the men in his family were also named N. Middlename Bailey.
I had a friend in college named Gerry Garcia. Another friend upon being told of the singer’s death thought they were talking about our friend and burst into tears.
According to a recent episode of HIMYM the coolest middle name ever is “Waitforit”.
