A friend recently had to do this for his departed and well-loved uncle. It started me thinking of what is in my house, and what would someone (hopefully someone that I like) that had to go thru my stuff think of what they found.
What if they found my little drawer of “girl-toys”!! :eek:
Or my undie drawer, the one with the undies I don’t wear anymore but haven’t tossed yet, or the one with the slinky undies,
Or my little stash,
Or…
What is in your house that would make your ghost just turn pink and squirm? 😉

I always keep my vibrator smartly wrapped with my hot water bottle and heating pad. I’m hoping for that association of aching muscles. Maybe if I add a bottle of aspirin…

Well, I still have some armor and weapons from my SCA fighting days, that may puzzle the family–they never really understood my involvement in that group. Children’s books and some toys (I’ve never had kids), but lots of adults collect those things. I sold my last book of erotica at my last garage sale. Hummmmm . . . I’m pretty clear of embarassing artifacts. How mundane–I must remedy this! Where did I put that sex toy catalogue?

A bunch of bad poetry.
The least embarrassing porno collection in the entire world. (What can I say? I am a man of simple tastes.)
A post for MPSIMS that says: I am dead. (With a letter to my son to post it, and then close my SDMB account.)
Most of this is on my computer, although some of the poetry is in hard copy, and I do have prints of . . . well, whatever.

I think my family would be surprised by how much photo and cinema equipment I’ve garnered over the years.
A bunch of mp3’s of groups no one but web junkies knows. And CD’s of country, 70’s rock, classical, jazz fusion, and almost punk alt stuff.
A few girlie jpegs, but nothing weird or even wild. I delete those. 😃

Lots and lots of books. Art books, Photoshop books, Yosemite books, and so on. Oh, and the Harlequin Romances. Oh well, some of my relatives read them too.
Lots of Jerry Goldsmith soundtrack CDs. LOTS. This will come as no surprise to my relatives.
_Way_ too many VHS tapes. Weird old science fiction movies, obscure TV shows and unerased soap operas. Also, recently I’ve gone on a Burt Lancaster, Tom Berenger and Tommy Lee Jones movie binge. Lots of tapes and DVDs starring these guys. Oh well, most of my relatives are fans too.
Lots of half-finished sketchbooks with BAD art. Lots of photographs, and crappy computer junk.
Overall, I’m not too ashamed. Other than for being a packrat, that is.

Hell, I’ll give it to you now! Of course you have to understand the significance of the tape. I received it from a good friend, as a gift. She, in turn had received it as a gift, from an ex boyfriend, who had himself gotten it as a gift from a relative. On it’s third round as a mathom, and still in pristine shrink-wrap!

Pages filled with bizarre notes that they more than likely won’t be able to decipher. Computer nuts experienced with \*nixes could read some of them, but most wouldn’t be in near enough context for understanding.
Books. Lots and lots of books, arranged in ways only I’ve ever been able to understand. Programming and UNIX and poetry and science fiction and science and linguistics and books of strange facts. It looks like hell, but it makes sense to me. Nobody else, though.
Some poetry, both on disc in my desktop and hardcopy. All of it beat, but not half-bad, if I do say so myself. The poetry should be pretty self-explanatory. 🙂
CDs. Many, mostly oldies and alternative and a goodly portion of punk. Not too bad, and better arranged than my books.
Some VHS tapes. The Trilogy (enhanced version), _Clerks_, _Office Space_, _Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas_, _Plan 9 from Outer Space_, _M_ and _Metropolis_ (both Fritz Lang films), _Nosferatu_ (original version), _Shadow of the Vampire_, _Alice_ (Jan Svenkmajer), and a lot of other movies, most of which I hardly watch.
On my desktop, a lot of programs I’ve downloaded, both for Linux and Windows ME. More for Linux, though, and nearly all of them gzipped (or, lately, bzipped) source tarballs. Emulators for machines as diverse as a Z80 running CP/M and the PDP-8. An Intel 4004 emulator with the source of the multiplication program I wrote for it (the Intel 4004 had no (documented) multiplication opcode), plus a listing, a flat binary, and a memory dump created from that code.
On my laptop, almost nothing. Little difference from my desktop in what it does have. (My laptop is an ancient Gateway machine running a first-generation Pentium (fdiv-bug free, though :)).)
