> Our local St Vincent Hospital offers menu style food. There’s a window of time to call and order. Otherwise they send a default tray.

When my gallbladder was removed, they sent up a tray for me for dinner. Arguably the WORST POSSIBLE thing they could have given me. “Salisbury steak” featured heavily. I requested something less scary-looking. It wasn’t necessary any better tasting, but it didn’t look like it would kill me on the spot.

After my son was born, we ordered food to be delivered to my hospital room. Supposedly that hospital has gone to the “made to order” approach; I have no plans on ever finding out.
