Arrrgh, pre-fab furniture. We’ve been trying to spiff up the house and this last week psycat and I have put together a bunch of that stuff. I think you’re on the right track, though. Drink lots of beer, ignore the written instructions and just look at the pretty pictures.
I knocked a piece out of the doorjam trying to move a desk through a doorway it wouldn’t fit into, too. Got any wood putty?
