I’ve been one of those folks that [Zogby](http://www.zogby.com/) has been contacting for years and asking my opinion. In one of the lastest opinion polls from them I was asked … If America were the “Survivor” reality show, which State would you vote off? So, if America were the “Survivor” reality show, which State would you vote off, and why? ---

That’s tough, because I can’t think of a state from which I’ve not met nice people. Does anybody have any data on which ones use the most resources and contribute the least in revenue? That would probably be the best way to approach it. But another way to look at it would be to clip a state like Florida, Texas or California since they’re not right in the middle of the place. Texas and California both could stand on their own as countries pretty well and have decent flag designs already worked up. Plus it would probably keep us from having to deal with a Schwarznegger or a Bush (again) as a president anytime soon. 🙂 ---

Hmm… It’s hard when I only have to pick just one. But I’ll go with Alabama, primarily as a representative of the deep south. I would pick Texas, but I don’t feel like I can do that 'cause I live here. ☹ ---

**Texas.** There are enough people who claim that Texas has the right to secede (it doesn’t) that they’re practically voting themselves off. Not to mention it’s the Execution Capital of the USA. Floridarrrrrrrr has been acting weird lately, but remember that it has nice beaches and Cape Canaveral. I’d vote to keep Florida. After Texas, I’d vote out any state that does not want to teach Evolution as a _fact_ in school. (Note that evolution is a fact. The theory is about how it works.) ---

Mississippi is the crappiest state (IMO!) but it doesn’t really affect the rest of us, with so few electoral votes and so little cultural influence. I’d want to get rid of a state that negatively affects me, so I’ll go with Texas. Florida’s a close second though. ---

I think we could get rid of more than one. One each of the North / South pairings could go. Do we really need a North _and_ a South Carolina? or Dakota? One is plenty. I’ve always had trouble telling New Hampshire and Vermont apart. Tricky on the 5th grade geography tests. I could do without one of them. I’ve also always felt sort of ‘meh’ about Nebraska. I’ve never met anyone from Nebraska. It sounds funny when you say it. Nebraska Nebraska Nebraska. ---
