Phil Ochs once sang “Here’s to the land you’ve torn out the heart of / Mississippi, find yourself another country to be part of.” But the most recent lynching, that of James Byrd, was in the state that’s the heart of the gun cult, casual executions, official corruption, glorification of ignorance, overall belligerence, and general yeehawism. Texas, we’re damn sick of you. Shape up or ship out. ---

Massachusetts. No doubt about it. This state messing up with the big dig as badly as we have is the national equivilent of causing your team to lose a challenge. MA is also the only state where people are fleeing in droves and actually has a falling population. Led by Kennedy and Kerry, MA wouldn’t last a decade on it’s own. But, it would be fun to watch it try. 😉 ---

Texas? California? Massachusettes? Florida? I dunno about you, but I have no desire to pay MORE money to the government and those states all add money to the nation. Get rid of some state that’s using more federal funds than contributing, like Montana or West Virginia. I’m going with Maine myself. ---

I’m going with an odd choice: **South Dakota** , just because [they’re the idiots with the lack of usury laws (i.e. no caps on interest charged on loans), which enable the credit card industry to screw the rest of the country](http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/credit/more/rise.html). Second choice: **Delaware** for the same reason. Those states are Renfields to the credit card industry’s Dracula. ---

There are way too many people voting for Texas because of political concerns. I think y’all are treating this question far too unfriviously. If you’re going to vote us off, it should be because you’re jealous of our big… “hats.” I’ll be the first to cast my vote for **Rhode Island**. No one will miss that little polo ground. It’s also about the right size to turn into a superprison to house all the outlaws from the other 49 states.
