If we are talking about zombies as portrayed in The Walking Dead and various movies, I’d say quite seldom. Those zombies seem rather notably squishy, such that the characters have no trouble stabbing them through the head with folding knives or bursting their skulls wide open in the most spectacular fashion with a blow from a common garden spade. While the jaws and teeth are obviously quite sturdy, the actual cranial vault seems to be only a little harder than a nice, fresh pumpkin. A .22 is sufficient unto the day. ---

22 rifle with 50rd mags 22 pistol kukri 2 x 550 rd boxes loose ammo .22 is quite enough to scramble a cranium ---

A .22 goes into a coconut every time, and they’re the same strength as a human skull. A .44 magnum does horrific damage to coconuts if you’re looking for explodey overkill. ---
