Come on, you all cannot possibly believe that this one is for real. I haven’t seen this level of intentional crazy since FORMERAGENT got his all caps government issued keyboard. In most of eastern europe Roma are essentially non-citizens, treated pretty much like our southwestern states treat illegal mexican ‘wetbacks’ except they have been living in the countries for several hundred years. It is essentially a problem shared by the jewish population, though where the jewish population set themselves up in ghettos and isolated themselves that way, Roma were nomadic and made their living by thievery, as tinkers [repairing small items like relining tin pans, re-welding seams on cookware, sharpening knives and scissors and so forth] telling fortunes, dancing and entertaining [hence the prevalence of the ‘gypsy violinist meme’] small scale circus performing, and occasionally as animal trainers [dancing bears, trained animals like ponies, monkeys and the like] There is also a cultural difference attributed to their origin, which includes what seem to be draconian cleanliness laws such as setting up the camps in such a manner that water is drawn upstream of the camp and washing is done downstream of the camp, not washing up in the same vessels used for cooking, disposal of garbage and body wastes and so forth that are similar to the health laws in the old testament [which are sensible sanitation measures for nomads with limited access to water] And as such, genetic consideration for marriage, consanguinity being considered. Marriage with outsiders tends to be forbidden, probably because in previous unenlightened times religion tended to be enforced rather violently [convert or die] and as they were not at that time strictly judeo-christian, rather sensible. I can try to see if my Romanian buddy has a few Roma friends he can get onto the Dope to answer questions from a non-crackpot viewpoint. My Roma friend that I had, I have unfortunately lost contact with as something happened to her during some unsettled political times and I have never been able to find out exactly what. ---

Obviously I understand there are cultural differences. But that does not equal race. Its the OP who keeps bringing up white people and seems to not understand that white does not equal WASP. I find it funny because I have never seen anyone who doesn’t consider roma as caucasion. We are talking about texas and america. Most people will have no idea what roma is and would need a class on why they should be prejudiced.
