Why pay more than a buck for a plastic lighter when you can buy an 8-oz can of lighter fuel for the same price and it'll last you five times as long? Who'd be stupid enough to buy something you just throw away eventually?

Pocket-size Kleenex tissues? What's the point when washable cloth handkerchieves will last you a lifetime?

Those ugly-looking things you were around your waist to carry change and things will NEVER catch on.

Get my drift?

I don't smoke anymore, but when I did I would not have bothered messing with a refillable lighter...just convenience, I guess...

As for hankerchiefs...EWWWWW! Man, that is so gross...My Dad used those forever...we called them "snot rags". Totally gross. Bleh. 'Nuff said.

Basically, we use this stuff 'cause we're lazy and like convenience. At least that's why I do.

Yeah, really, Omniscientnot, handkerchiefs are nasty!! Why don't you carry an asskerchief too! Instead of using disposable toilet paper to wipe your ass after you take a dump, you can just use your trusty cloth asskerchief.

As for lighters, I have had a few that I really treasured. I just get attached to some things. Eventually, I lose them, and I really get bummed out for a while. So, I go for the cheap disposable ones now.....like some of the women in my life.

Lousy phrasing on my part. I definitely agree with you on the handkerchief/asskerchief. My point, however badly put, is that you can be way off-base when something new comes out, be it a new fad or a new product. Being of a certain age - 50!!! -, I remember that people generally didn't carry disposable tissues with them (especially men) when I was young. And a Zippo lighter (lifetime warranty!) was as common as common can be!

Barney is still a complete mystery to me!

The ugly things around the waist? You mean a fanny pack? I've got one and use it when I run. It holds my ID and one water bottle perfectly without flopping all over.

I second the hanky thing. When I have a bad cold (rarely) I use old bandanas and then just throw them into a separate wash. Jesus, people, it's just snot! Think of the stuff on your underwear! I use them because they are very soft and don't rip up my nose like regular tissue paper does. I refuse to pay the big bucks to get the lotion infused tissue when recyclable bandanas work just as well.
