Non-USA Dopers: Are there any boards like this in your country?

Just wondering....might be cool to try to get onto a good board in Australia or NZ or else somewhere in Europe or Asia - anywhere for that matter. Preferably one where English is understood...

Any suggestions?

Nothing in Japan that I've found so far. The closest is the Japan Today news website where you can post messages about the news stories (where I also post as sublight). The problem is that the only moderation is for naughty language, and 90% of the discussions devolve into anti-Japan/pro-Japan/anti-US trilateral flamewars, with the occasional "I lik 2 f*k jap biches" from the mensa contingent.

The main English language board in HK is http://www.icered.com/

I post there a bit - but it's mostly very lame. I don't think any English language board anywhere matches the SDMB.

There's tons of interesting message boards in the Netherlands, but most of them focus on one particular topic. For example, I post to a few Dutch car and motorbike MB's.

But a message board as universal, diverse, and interesting as this one?

Nope.

DMark, you could definitely try the UK Guardian talkboards at http://talk.guardian.co.uk/. They have a fairly, erm, heated politics board called ‘International’, and a board for pointless stuff called ‘The Haven’. The layout is very different from the SDMB (and is annoying for a while) but I think the tone is quite similar.

Sigh....oh well....
I had been on guardian about three or four years ago and it is actually a fun read, but nothing like this one.
I just wondered what it would be like to be the "minority" nationality (in terms of numbers of members), peering in.
Just from lurking throught this board, you non-USA dopers probably have a better insight into the US psyche than most people, including and especially polititicians...
Not that this board is representative of the American populace at large - we should be so lucky!
If anyone should think of another board...let me know - but thanks anyway!

One that I frequent every so often, is the English version of Pravda. It's not as good as this of course, but it has it's moments. More political of course, and less fun. Different perspective..
