What are you other favorite bulletin boards? I’m more interested in the ones that have similar outlook like SD, not the threaded conversation, which I find is not easy to read.

Neither of those boards are exclusively for those mentioned, but the threads revolve around topics of interest to those groups.
So basically my life revolves around the Straight Dope, even when I’m not at SDMB.
Mine. 
It’s an urban planning/built environment related bulletin board, using vBulletin with most features enabled. There are about 200 messages posted a day, with about 60% of them being off-topic.

The reason I asked was mainly because I’ve not been to many bulletin boards myself. SD is great but during the peak hours I can’t even get it to display. Other times it’s way too slow. I wanted to know if there are more boards like SD that don’t entertain focused discussion like Eruopean Musicians or Romance Novel fans. Something for general public dealing with culture and society, off-the-wall topics, and little bit of everything.
www.metropolis.com has an interesting message board. It’s geared toward Americans living in Japan, but still very interesing to read.
It’s similar to SDMB. It’s based in the UK, and most members are Brits. Also, it has more of a liberal/leftist tendency than SDMB. There are very few conservatives on the Board.
I don’t spend that much time there, but i like it.
mhendo, I too post at u75 (under a different name), it’s a good board, though I don’t agree with much of the politics there (anarchist militant trade unionist even the odd Stalinist there), being a centrist/social democrat.
I really enjoy reading Fametracker but I only lurk…less than 100 posts since I registered in May, 2000. Intelligent people snarking about every facet of entertainment, though, so that’s fun.
This message board might fit your needs. It is a travel message board, but the Drunk Tank fits your above description.
