The Thorntree on the Lonely Planet website is essentially a travel message board, but there are several categories for more general discussion. It’s very active as well, with lots of international posters.
Star Wars and D&D boards. I gave up on White Wolf years ago.
Actually, I really only glance at the others. The SDMB is just too good.
Sff.net, the best place for written science fiction. You favorite SF author may have a newsgroup here.
Good number of posters here hang there. Hosted by James Randi, Randi.org is also helping to fight ignorance.

Count me as another Urban75 fan. Don’t post much there any more since I joined the police, since it’s quite the anarchists board of choice, but it can be very interesting to see the how’s and why’s of that way of thinking.
I hang around at Hard Radio since we don’t get much metal music around here. We do get some very interesting trolls over there from time to time though.
thatsracin.com has a message board that I posted to from time to time, but it’s not moderated and has devolved into “Jeff Gordon is a sucky fag!” and “Dale Earnhardt Jr. sux big time OMGFPLFDMAO!!!~!!~!!~!~:” so I gave up.
I still visit some newsgroups but since I use groups.google.com the time lag and missing messages make it useless.
